SmartGuide: the sensor and two apps
The Roche Accu-Chek SmartGuide sensor measures glucose in interstitial fluid and transmits data through Bluetooth. It is worn for up to 14 days on the upper arm, as specified in the manual. The solution includes SmartGuide for readings and SmartGuide Predict for glucose predictions.
Calibration is required
SmartGuide is not calibration-free. You need a blood glucose meter and compatible strips for calibration when prompted by the app. In Trend Mode and the situations specified by the manual, treatment decisions must be based on meter readings. Follow the app’s calibration steps and timing, not a schedule borrowed from another sensor.
What SmartGuide Predict estimates
Roche describes three features: low-glucose risk within 30 minutes, glucose trends over 2 hours, and overnight risk for the next 7 hours, calculated between 21:00 and 02:00. These are estimates, not certain future readings. Availability depends on sufficient data and the conditions in the app manual.
Prediction does not guarantee prevention
An alert or forecast can provide context for the care plan discussed with your healthcare professional. It does not guarantee that hypoglycaemia will be avoided and is not an automatic instruction to change a dose. If a displayed reading does not match symptoms, check with a blood glucose meter.
Compatibility and Romanian documentation
Before ordering, check your phone and app versions in the official Roche portal. It provides separate device, SmartGuide and Predict manuals, as well as compatibility documents. Do not assume watch support or integration with another Accu-Chek product solely because it uses the same brand.
Wear and usage limits
